The GIS Editor main menu

The Main Menu offers access to tasks that take effect on your whole project, the GIS Editor application itself, or your ThinkGeo account. It can be accessed by clicking the blue button on the left side of the Ribbon Bar.

Project Tasks

New Project - Starts a new project from scratch. If a project is already open, it will be closed first. (You will have an opportunity to save your changes to it before this occurs.)

Open Project - Loads a project and its associated map(s), layer(s) and other data into the GIS Editor. If another project is already open, it will be closed first. (You will have an opportunity to save your changes to it before this occurs.)

Save Project - Commits any changes to your current project by saving them to disk.

Save Project As - Saves your current project under a new filename. Your existing project file will remain on disk in its last saved state.

Package Project - Packages your current project and all of its dependent data in a single file. This is useful if you want to send your current project to another GIS Editor user, or take it to another computer. For more information, see Packaging Projects.

Printing and Exporting

Print - Opens the Print Map window, where you can set up a custom page layout for printing to a printer, plotter, document writer service (such as PDF or XPS), or any other printer available to you.

Export - Exports an image of your current map, matching its layer styles and current scale.

Application Configuration

Plugin Manager - Opens the Plugin Manager window, where you can view, enable/disable or install new plugins for the GIS Editor.

Options - Opens the Options window, where you can configure general options for the GIS Editor application and its installed plugins.

Check for Update - Checks for a new version of the GIS Editor and offers you the ability to download and install it.

Help - Launches the GIS Editor wiki in a web browser.

Account and Other

Account Profile - Displays the Account Profile window, where you can see the name of the account you're signed into and your next subscription renewal date. From here, you can also login with a different user account or manage your subscription.

About - Displays the GIS Editor's About screen along with the application's version number.
