The Measure Tab is located in your ribbon bar, labeled Measure. This section offers you various tools to measure your features and draw measurements on top of your map. To change the default measurement units and other settings, go to the Measurements section in the Options menu.
The Select Tool is used to measure features in your map. Clicking on a feature will select it, represented by the Measurement Area Style or the Measurement Line Style depending on the type of feature you select to be measured.
The other measurement tools, Line, Polygon, Circle, Square, Rectangle, Ellipse, allow you to draw on the map and the GIS Editor will automatically measure the area drawn. You can set the unit type for your measurements by changing the Area Unit and Distance Unit drop down menus. You can also change the appearance of your measurements by changing your Measurement Label Style, Area Style and Line Style.
Each measurement will add a new layer to the Measurements Layer Group. You can turn this off by going to the measurements section of the Options window. Once you are done with your measurements, the Export Wizard can save your measurements in a different file. Using Clear will remove all measurements from your project, or you can use Undo to step back on each measurement, while Redo will step forward.
