The Orion OBDtrac is a vehicle tracking device that allows for easy installation via its OBD2 port connector. The OBDtrac allows for OBD inforamtion to be transmitted to the GPS Tracking Server when properly configured. The OBDTrac requires initial configuration using Hyper Terminal.

1. Do you have all the elements in place to successfully connect your device to the GPS Tracking Server?

1. Install SIM Card
   1. Remove upper case and unlock the SIM card holder. Insert the SIM card into the holder and lock. Do not replace the upper case at this time as we need access to the USB port.
2. Configure USB COM Port
   1. The Silicon Laboratories USB COM port configuration cable requires a special driver to function properly. This driver is available at this link: http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/pages/usbtouartbridgevcpdrivers.aspx
   2. Download the proper version for your operating system and install.
   3. Plug the USB Configuration cable into an available USB port on your computer.
3. Configure Hyper Terminal

If you are running Windows Vista or newer Hyper Terminal will not be installed by default. You can download Hyper Terminal from here: Hyper Terminal
If you are running Windows XP or older Hyper Terminal will be installed by default. Simply navigate to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Communications - Hyper Terminal.

1. Run Hyper Terminal by double-clicking on HyperTerminal.exe.
2. Input a name for your connection. Click OK.

1. Connect using COM4. Click OK. The USB Configuration cable supplied with the OBDTrac defaults to COM4.

1. Select Port Settings.

Bits per second: 38400
Flow Control: None
Click OK.

1. Connect power and USB configuration cables to OBDtrac
   1. Connect the supplied power adapter to the OBD port of the device.
   2. Connect the USB configuration cable to the device.
   3. Within 3 seconds of connecting these cables press the ESC key on your keyboard. This will place the OBDtrac in Debug/Configuration mode.

1. Configure OBDtrac
   1. Type h for help. A list of available commands will be presented.

1. Configure Basic Settings
   1. Type SCFG to enter the Main Setting Menu.

1. Type 1 to enter the Basic Setting Menu.

UnitID: The UnitID is the main identifier for the device within the GPS Tracking Server so be sure to record this value so that you have it available when setting up the device within the GPS Tracking Server. \

1. Type E to exit the Basic Setting Menu and return to the Main Setting Menu.
2. Configure GSM/GPRS Connection Settings
3. Type 2 on the Main Setting Menu to enter the GSM/GPRS Setting Menu.

1. Type 1 to modify the Switch Mode setting. Type GPRS then hit Enter.
2. Type 7 to modify the Enable Roaming setting. Type YES then hit Enter.
3. Type A to modify the Enable RGTK/RMTK setting. Type YES then hit Enter.
4. Type 5 to enter the GPRS Connection Setting menu.
5. Configure GPRS Connection Settings

1. If your data provider does not require an APN Username and Password skip this step:
   1. Type 2 to modify the GPRS User Name setting. Type YourAPNUserName then hit Enter. Your cellular data provider will supply you with the APN Username for this setting.
   2. Type 3 to modify the GPRS Password setting. Type YourAPNPassword then hit Enter. Your cellular data provider will supply you with the APN Password for this setting.
2. Type 4 to modify the GPRS APN setting. Type YourAPNValue then hit Enter. Your cellular data provider will supply you with the APN value for this setting.
3. Type 5 to modify the GPRS Enable setting. Type ACCON then hit Enter. With this setting the device will only send out locations when the vehicle ignition is ON.
4. Type 6 to modify the GPRS SYNC Interval setting. Type 0 then hit Enter. Our listener does not use SYNC so we this to 0 to disable SYNC.
5. Type D to modify the Protocol setting. Type TCP then hit Enter.
6. Type F to modify the Require Server ACK setting. Type NO then hit Enter.
7. Type J to modify the Binary Report setting. Type NO then hit Enter.
8. Type E to exit the GPRS Connection Menu and return to the GSM/GPRS Connection Setting Menu.
9. Type E to exit the GSM/GPRS Connection Menu and return to the Main Setting Menu.
10. Type 3 to enter the Gateway Server Setting Menu.
11. Configure Gateway Server Settings

1. Type 1 to modify the Primary Gateway Server IP setting. Type 184.73.199.2 and hit Enter.
2. Type 2 to modify the Port setting. Type 1865 and hit Enter.
3. Type E to exit the Gateway Server Setting Menu and return to the Main Setting Menu.
4. Save configuration
5. Type E to exit the Main Setting Menu.

1. Type YES to write the configuration to the External FLASH. This saves the configuration to the device's memory.
2. Type run to switch to running mode. This switches the device from Debug mode to Running mode so that it can begin to send in location information to the server.
3. Diconnect the HyperTerminal connection by clicking the icon.
4. Disconnect the USB and power cables from the OBDTrac and install into your vehicle by plugging into the OBD port.
5. With the ignition turned to ON the device will power on and start reporting its location.
6. Login to GPS Tracking Server
