The Plot Point feature allows you to locate a set of coordinates on the map and mark them with a balloon-style marker. Coordinates can be input using a variety of different formats, including the local coordinate system based on your Map Projection.
To plot a set of coordinates on the map, open the Plot Point dialog by clicking the “Plot Point” button on the Home tab of the GIS Editor's ribbon bar. The following controls are available on the Plot Point dialog:
Point Label - The label that you want to display on the balloon marker for this set of coordinates.
Coordinate Format - A dropdown list that lets you choose the format or the coordinates you will enter. Available choices are:
Longitude (X) - Allows you to enter the longitude (X) value for your coordinate pair.
Latitude (Y) - Allows you to enter the latitude (Y) value for your coordinate pair.
Once you have filled in the information above, click the “Plot Point” button to place a marker on the map. The marker text will consist of your Point Label as well as the X and Y coordinates of the point.
To remove a plotted point's balloon marker from your map, hover over the balloon marker, which will reveal a red “X” button in the upper right corner of the balloon. Then click the “X” to remove the marker.
