====== Exporting and Converting Data ======

The GIS Editor offers several ways to export your data and convert it into different file types. Whether it is one layer, selected features in a layer, measurements, current map view, or even to Google Earth, the editor makes it easy to manipulate your data the way you want it to.

===== Exporting Map View =====
Map View exporting is located in the [[Main Menu]] labeled "Export". This export option takes your current map view and all visible features and converts the map into a .png image file.

===== Exporting and Converting Layers =====
By right clicking on a layer from the [[Using the Layer List|Layer List]], you will get the layer context menu. Near the bottom of the context menu is "Export To..." and a flyout menu will appear with four different file formats to convert the layer to. You can export a layer to a Shapefile, TinyGeo, Delimited, or FileGeodatabase file format.

===== Exporting Selected Features =====
In the [[Select Features Plugin|Select Features Tab]] there is an "Export" button that will take all of your selected features in one current layer on the map and save them in a new shapefile. By selecting the features that you want exported and using the "Export" button, you will need to choose which layer you want to export and then decide if you want to save it as a temporary file or choose a file destination to open in a future session. ===== Exporting/Converting Measurements to a Shapefile =====
Measurements do not contain a style within them, but they can be converted into a shapefile to be styled and viewable in the Map View Export option above. When you export your measurements, it's important to know that you need export area measurements and line measurements separately. See the [[Measurement Export Wizard|Measurement Export Wizard]] article for a step-by-step process on how to convert measurements into shapefiles.

===== Exporting to Google Earth =====
If you have Google Earth installed on your computer, you can export your current map view and visible layers into Google Earth by using the "Google Earth" button located in the **Tools Tab**. Additionally, you can save your map view into a .KML file as either a Rasterized or Vector format. See [[Google Earth]] for more information.
