====== Clip Wizard ======

The Clip Wizard dialog is used to selectively remove portions of a master layer based on an extent.  This is done by selecting one or more clipping layers, the combined extent of which will be used to "cut out" a portion of the master layer beneath them.

This dialog consists of 4 steps:  
  * Step 1 - Choose the Master Layer
  * Step 2 - Select Clipping Layers
  * Step 3 - Select Standard or Inverse Clip
  * Step 4 - Save the Results

===== Step 1 - Choose the Master Layer =====
Step 1 of the Clip Wizard allows users to select which layer to use as the **Master Layer** in the clip procedure.  The **Master Layer** is the layer which will be clipped and whose data columns will be preserved for the final output layer.

===== Step 2 - Select Clipping Layers =====
Step 2 of the Clip Wizard allows users to select 1 or more area-based layers to be used as the clipping layer.  The combined extent of these layers (or the selected features on those layers) will be used to clip the master layer.  Portions of the master layer that fall outside of the clipping layers will not be included in the final output.  Users can hold the <ctrl> key and click 2 or more layers to be used for clipping.  After selecting the layers, the user can then press the **Next** button. 

If your layers have certain features that have been selected on the **Select Features** tab, you may also check the **Only use the currently selected features on these layers for clipping** checkbox.

===== Step 3 - Select Standard or Inverse Clip =====
Step 3 of the Clip Wizard allows you to determine which parts of the master layer are retained.  There are 2 options:
  *  **Standard Clip** - Retains only those parts of the master layer which lie inside of the combined extent of the clipping layer(s).
  * **Inverse Clip** - Retains only those parts of the master layer which lie outside of the combined extent of the clipping layer(s).

===== Step 4 - Save the Results =====
Like other Tools wizards, this step allows users to choose how they want the wizard results to be saved.  Users can choose to **Add to Map** and specify the desired layer name, or choose to **Output to File**.  If **Output to File** is chosen, the user must select an existing or new file to save the results into.
